It’s hard to knock a film featuring notoriously beleaguered action stars. From Schwarzenegger wielding a weapon as tall as him, to Stallone and Van Damme making solid use of body doubles, to Chuck Norris cracking his own jokes – The Expendables 2 is a roller coaster through-and-through, satisfactory to the most bloodthirsty and ultraviolence at its finest.

Owners of pre-purchased copies of Guild Wars 2 got a three-day advantage over their patient counterparts, but that seems like three days wasted. Rife with logging and connection issues–as expected with any MMO–ArenaNet now must prepare for another influx of players tomorrow as the game ships to retail.
But early issues haven’t beset anticipation or hype [...]

Little over a week ago, Ubisoft enthusiastically proclaimed in a CVG interview they intend for yearly iterations of Assassin’s Creed. Alex Hutchison, franchise head after Patrice Desilets left, spoke candidly about the series’ future, saying among other gems [on the series becoming ongoing]: “It wasn’t the original plan to be an ongoing series, [...]

In following video game news for the better part of seven years, I’ve learned all-out rage is short-lived. Particularly with Mass Effect 3‘s ending, where hatred for BioWare and EA reached paramount levels only to dissipate two months later. And headlines from media sites feeding the furore certainly didn’t help EA’s public relations department.

Grand Theft Auto is perhaps the most intensely watched franchise of any generation, with a single screenshot of the upcoming fifth edition sending the Internet on a tear. After close to two months of sporadically posting articles, interrupted by surprise vacation declarations, September approaches and we’re in that late-Summer groove. This is especially good news for video game bloggers and journalists, as it marks the end of the summer lull, a discomforting time when we have to get creative with content. (Though, [...]

Man, I’m tired. I awoke this morning to another article decrying Gearbox for statements made over its self-proclaimed “girlfriend mode”, a skilltree for DLC character Mechromancer which is actually named “Best Friends Forever”. And before that, Crystal Dynamics dared challenge the notion that video games cannot handle rape correctly, saying Lara Croft was “empowered” by the crippling [...]

For Borderlands, it wasn’t about story or character progression or even the wonderfully weird cast of characters. Those were secondary in a world that adores, indulges in, and is ravaged by guns. Pandora isn’t a lush, scenic paradise; instead it’s a brown and desolate landscape where survival is truly of the fittest. But what better way [...]

Sony’s playing hardball now.
Dissatisfied with poor sales for the Vita, Sony has announced an initiative deemed “Crossbuy”, whereby if people purchase the PS3 version of a particular title, the Vita version comes free. Titles compatible with this initiative are PlayStation All-Stars, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet & Clank QForce, all of which are cross-platform.
This concept [...]
