In what could be an unprecedented case, SyFy and Trion Worlds are teaming up for a project called Defiance. An MMO influences a TV series, and conversely as well. Regardless of its success, it will be incredibly interesting to see transpire.

Publishers have tried fishing the micro-transactions waters for a while now, but this time it has gone too far. These stores defeat the very root of survival horror, a dying genre. And sadly, the end could be nearer than we think.

This industry lives for outrage. Some outrage is justifiable, like the ill-treatment of women, and some is laughably ridiculous. An episode of the latter came up recently with the often delayed BioShock Infinite and its atrocious cover.

It is hardly a strange occurrence anymore to hear of a fan-driven campaign pining for a game’s release. Operation Rainfall immediately comes to mind; an organized, militant effort pressuring Nintendo to release localized English versions of Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower. Only the first two ever hit North American shores.
